Don’t be fooled into thinking that spell-check and grammar-check will find the copy errors in your website, blog, craft tutorial, or e-book. Your computer can’t recognize the difference between “hole” and “whole” if they are spelled correctly, and many grammar helpers will lead you astray. Every manuscript can benefit from a good, thorough copyedit.
As a trained copyeditor, I can give your text the attention it needs to find mistakes in the following areas:

As I edit, I work hard to maintain your style, tone, and voice, while eliminating inconsistencies and clearing up confusing or ambiguous sentences. I also develop a style sheet that clarifies decisions about number usage, measurements, and abbreviations.
I am able to work in any text format and am versed in both the AP and Chicago style manuals. Editing fees are determined by manuscript length and the level of editing required:
Light copyediting: $0.012/word or $12 per 1000 words
Medium copyediting: $0.014/word or $14 per 1000 words
Heavy copyediting: $0.016/word or $16 per 1000 words

Have you completed your layout or proof and are you close to publishing? Don’t skip the essential step of proofreading.
While I proofread, I confirm that editing suggestions have been applied to your manuscript and that no typos remain in the text. I also make sure your layout, page numbers, fonts, type sizes, images, captions, and other elements are all in order.
I prefer to proofread on completed PDF documents, using mark-up tools that allow me to flag errors or omissions without altering the text or layout.
My proofreading fees are based on the length of the document and the complexity of the proofread; my general rate is $8 per 1000 words in final layout or typeset page.
Turnaround time varies by the length of the project, but it is usually 3 to 5 business days for shorter projects. If you know that you will be regularly posting on your blog or website on specific days, then we can work together for a faster turnaround with no rush fee charge.
